The Kornati Islands are a true nautical paradise and a destination worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime. Their remote location and stark, rocky landscape have helped preserve them as one of the Mediterranean’s last truly untouched areas. Dramatic, cliff—shaped over centuries by natural forces, define the archipelago and create striking stone scenery.
Scattered like pearls across the sea, numerous islands and islets make sailing through Kornati a unique and unforgettable experience. While the terrain may appear harsh at first, the islands are rich in life, with over 650 plant species and a vibrant underwater world filled with corals and rare fish.
Whether you’re seeking adventure through sailing and diving among towering cliffs, or peaceful escape in quiet, hidden bays, the Kornati Islands offer something for every traveler—a rare blend of raw beauty, serenity, and natural wonder.
The Architecture of Stone and Sea
The Kornati Islands took shape in the Mesozoic era, sculpted over thousands of years by wind and waves. Their fragile limestone created a dramatic karst landscape, making Kornati one of the most indented archipelagos in the Adriatic. This unique setting invites a wide range of experiences, from sailing and diving to exploring rich marine life, photographing stark scenery, discovering local history, and enjoying outstanding island cuisine.
Kornati are captivating in every season. With around 270 sunny days a year, they are especially peaceful outside the summer months, when silence and isolation highlight their raw, almost meditative beauty. Our full-day excursion brings you to the archipelago’s highlights—viewing powerful cliffs from the open sea, visiting the most beautiful beaches, and exploring the land itself, along with traces of life and work that once shaped these islands.

The Kornati “Crowns”
The Kornati cliffs are known as “crowns” for their sharp, striking formations. The highest cliff rises over 80 meters on the island of Klobučar, while its underwater walls plunge even deeper. The most impressive views are on the cliffs facing the open sea. Unique karst formations also appear in many hidden bays and beaches, continually captivating visitors with their raw beauty.
Tureta Fortress
For over 1,400 years, Tureta Fortress has stood proudly over the Kornati archipelago. Built in the 6th century during the Byzantine era, it served both as a defensive stronghold and a signaling point to monitor maritime traffic. Its remote location spared it from being quarried for stone, and the exceptional craftsmanship ensured its remarkable preservation. It is believed that Emperor Justinian commissioned Tureta as one of fourteen forts along the Adriatic to oversee sea routes.
Church of Our Lady of Tarac
The Church of Our Lady of Tarac is a simple yet historically significant place of worship, gathering locals for centuries. Built in the 17th century from the remains of an older basilica, it served not only the small local population but also sailors and travelers seeking shelter from strong winds and storms. The most important celebration takes place on the first Sunday of July, when a traditional boat pilgrimage from Murter brings hundreds of vessels into the bay—a breathtaking sight that makes this religious event truly unforgettable.
Lojena Beach
Lojena Beach is the only natural sandy beach in the Kornati Islands. Nestled in a deep cove on the island of Levrnaka, it features a mix of textures—from white pebbles and rocky stretches to pearly stones and silvery sand in the water. Beyond swimming, the beach is perfect for memorable photography, especially in spring and autumn. Surrounded by pine forests and turquoise waters, it offers a serene setting for both stunning photos and peaceful relaxation in the untouched natural environment.
